Opole University has 6 Departments. The University develops scientific research in the fields of humanities, theology, law, economy, sciences, natural and technical sciences. In many disciplines the research is conducted in cooperation with researchers from renown research involves the undergraduates. The students, whose total number has exceeded 18.000, can choose from 26 different majors and 43 specializations. The majority of them have had the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The 3 Departments have full academic rights, that is they have the right to confer the scientific title of assistant professor.

The Faculty of Natural and Technical Sciences runs Master’s studies in 3 majors, including the following:

Protection of Environment – including specialization in “biology of environment”, Environment Engineering - including specialization in “process engineering in protection of environment”, and “fundamental problems of technology”, Biology, There are also vocational studies in Technical Education.

Scientific research in the biotechnology (bioleaching and biodegradation) can be developed at this Faculty.
